Santas Reindeer

santa-sleighMore rapid than eagles his coursers they came,And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
“Now, Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer, and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the porch – to the top of the wall! Now dash away – dash away – dash away all!”

The most powerful of the reindeer. His hoof beats sound like the rumble of distant thunder. In fact, Donner, means “thunder” in German. He’s always harnessed alongside Blitzen nearest to the sleigh where his strength is most useful to control the weight of the fully loaded sleigh. Sometimes his name is spelled Donder.
The fastest reindeer in the sleigh team, Blitzen is the German word for “lightning”. He is the second strongest reindeer and always hitched with Donder right next to the sleigh.
Legs are strong and muscular and slightly longer than those of other reindeer. The most graceful reindeer in the team, although not the largest.
Very clever and strong-willed. Can be relied upon to never give up, even in the worst weather. Usually harnessed alongside Dancer.
Full of fun and energy. If ever the sleigh team is flagging, it needs only to look to Prancer to put a spring back in its step.
Always ready and willing with lots of energy to spare. Usually harnesses alongside Prancer, helping to fill the team with enthusiasm for the journey.
Not as fast as Blitzen, but fast enough to give the lightning-fast reindeer a run for his money. Can be relied on to stay on course no matter how strongly the winds blow. Usually hitched with Cupid at the lead.
Always hitched at the lead of the team Cupid flies straight as an arrow, with a keen sense of direction that always keeps him on course. Usually harnessed alongside Comet.
The newest member of Santas team Rudolph is smaller than the other reindeer, he makes up for it by having more heart and more stamina than the rest, plus that very special nose…
